A pair of late 19th century bronze and bronze doré hunting / ‘chasse’ triple wall sconces ‘appliques’, the backplate in the form of a boar from head to hoof, with tassel drops. The central sconce arm in the form of a French hunting horn, with the outer sconce arms applied with oak leaf and acorn design. Marked to the reverse “MATIE?”. French, 1895. The 18th century master founder Jean Joseph de Saint-German (French, 1719-1791) cast a similar oak leaf and acorn design, circa 1750, but with boar and deer.

A stunning reverse intaglio coaching crystal brooch of a four-in-hand carriage / coaching on the road, followed by a rider. Mother of pearl backed and unusually set in a frame of berried laurel leaves, the symbol of victory, worked in 14 carat gold. The crystal possibly Belgium, circa 1900, the gold setting America, possibly a little later, marked “14KP”, 14 karat plumb gold, meaning exactly 14K, no more, no less. Belgium / American, circa 1900. The reverse also bears jewellers mark. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals.

The Yarmouth Royal Mail “Woodbridge Yoxford” coach with seven up parked at the “Three Cups Hotel” Colchester, outside the offices of “The Old Blue Coach Office” and “Star Coach Office” beneath a full moon evening, by James Pollard (English, 1792-1867). The coach fully laden, wears the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the town name “Woodbridge” and “Yoxford” signifying the coach’s route. The reverse bears the gallery label of “Arthur Ackermann & Sons Ltd 3 Old Bond Street, London W1 Established 1783”. Signed and dated middle bottom “J Pollard 1831”. English, circa 1831. An historic oil, the “Three Cups Hotel”, Colchester stood on the north side of the High Street from 1701 until its demolition in 1972, having been rebuilt in 1886. Pigot's directory stated that the Royal Mail coach left the Cups every night at 12.15 for London. This would seem to be about the time of night Pollard recorded the coach.

19th century coaching / carriage oil on panel of a Royal Mail four-in-hand coach ‘head on’ with passengers on board by John Frederick Herring Sr. (English, 1795 – 1865). The coach is depicted speeding along a dusty country road, passing a milestone at the brow of a hill. The coach wears the correct Royal Mail livery of a black with red door and lower panels, and Post Office red wheels. Signed and dated lower left “J.F. Herring 1839”. To the reverse remnants of gallery label for Thomas Agnew & Sons. English, 1839.

A watercolour with pencil and gouache on buff paper of four in hand carriages at the Royal Richmond Horse Show before the Royal box in Richmond’s Old Deer Park by Alfons Purtscher (Austrian, 1885-1962). Signed and dated bottom right “A Purtscher 1927”. The Royal Richmond Horse Show was started in 1892 by local vet WJ Hatton and grew into a major equestrian event. By 1967 it became part of the South of England Show, but was briefly revived in the 1990's by local residents. Austrian 1927.

The carriage with four wheels, two movable and wearing platinum tyres. The swingle tree acting as a safety clasp. The carriage door is adorned with a heraldic swan. English circa 1890.

A bracelet with a Baume & Mercier of Geneva gold watch, set either side with reverse intaglio crystals of hunters jumping white picket fences, then stirrups and associated tack.
