Once the required number of prints was reached, the copper plate was scratched and discarded. The etching also bears 1920’s label to the reverse for “J Gautier 19 Rue de Sèvres Paris”. A Parisian firm of guilders and framers established in the 19th century. (Gautier was also a director of the ‘Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers’).
