A rare English ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ cameo four-in-hand coaching / carriage gold set brooch. ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ jewellery was patented in 1831 by the glassmaker Apsley Pellatt. Such jewellery was very fashionable in the 1830’s and 1840’s. English circa 1840.

The extremely fine sand cast horse's head wears a single rope bridle decorated with a pair of old cut diamonds, an old cut emerald, and oriental pearls. The sand cast expandable links cast with scrolling decoration. American, circa 1900

15 ) Stick Pin of a Horse
Horse head pin by 'Fix' A stick pin of a bridled horses head by Bijoux Fix. The reverse marked 'FIX' and the pin stamped. FIX (Bijoux FIX) was founded in 1823 and is credited to have invented the laminated gold technique often known today as rolled gold. Lamination bonds a thick layer of gold onto a base metal whereas plating adds a thin layer of gold normally by a chemical or electrolytic process. FIX became a generic name used when speaking of the finest quality gold overlayed products. They produced well designed art-nouveau items that had a substantial gold layer on a base metal. French, circa 1920

A patinated bronze horse head, wearing a gold bridle, stick pin. French, circa 1860. Such work was done by Jean-Valentin Morel (1794-1860) et Henri Duponchel (Morel et Duponchel) based at Rue Neuve Saint Augustin. Their work was retailed in the rich Parisian market.

A very finely worked and well detailed 19th century gold, platinum and 38 old cut matching diamond brooch in the form of a Royal Mail four-in-hand coaching / carriage brooch. The carriage with four wheels, two movable and wearing platinum tyres. The swingle tree acting as a safety clasp. The carriage door is adorned with a heraldic swan. English circa 1890.
