Aquatint etching of a Labrador Retriever Dual Champion " Bramshaw Bob " swimming by Reuben Ward Binks (1880 - 1950). Signed in pencil bottom right "Ward Binks pinxt sculpt", and titled in pencil bottom left "Bramshaw Bob". It is unclear why Binks signed this “pinxt sculpt”, but it makes this copy a rare hand touched artist proof. Ward Binks aquatint etchings were published Arthur A Greatorex, 14 Grafton St., Bond St., London. English, circa 1940.

3 ) Dual Champion Bramshaw Bob with pheasant by Rueben Ward Binks (English, 1880 - 1950)
An aquatint etching of the Labrador "Bramshaw Bob” with cock pheasant in bracken setting by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880 - 1950) Published 1934 by Arthur Greatorex Ltd, unsigned. Lettered top centre: “Published 1934 Arthur Greatorex Ltd, 14 Grafton Street, London, W1” In the 1920s and 1930s, regardless of the field and show bench, it was the exclusive place of Countess Howe's Banchory Kennels. One such dog was Dual Ch. Bramshaw Bob, whose sire was Ch. Ingleston Ben and dam Bramshaw Brimble. Bramshaw Bob was very successful wining 27 CC and was first at Crufts in both 1932 and 1933. English, 1934.

4 ) Watercolour of Charles E A Alington’s F.T. Champion Labrador Retrievers & The Champion Stake winners “Dazzle” and “Flashy” by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880 - 1950)
Watercolour studies of Mr Charles E A Alington’s F.T. Champion Labrador Retrievers & The Champion Stake winners “Dazzle” and “Flashy” by Reuben Ward Binks (1880 - 1950). Titled “Dazzle” and “Flashy” and signed and dated bottom right “R Ward Binks 1921”. The reverse bears “International Gundog League At The Working Trials Held by The Retriever Society near Didlington Hall, Breckland on the 7th & 8th December 1921 1st prize in the Champion Stakes was awarded to Mr C Alington’s “Flashy”. Then signed by the three judges Mr “P(eter) Clutterbuck”, Mr “B J Warwick” and Sir “G(eorge) Thursby“ and secretary “George Louth”. Together with framer’s label “J. Middleton, frame maker, gilder, and mount cutter, 231 King’s Road, Chelsea”. Allington not only won this prestigious event The Champion Stake in 1921 with “Flashy”, but he won again in 1922 with “Dazzle”. Charles Alington was one of the founding members of the Labrador Retriever Club in 1916. In “The Popular Labrador Retriever” Countess Lorna Howe wrote of Mr Alington as “probably one of the greatest handlers and trainers of all time”. In 1929 Alington wrote the classic reference to the difficult task of judging retriever and spaniel field trials “Field Trials and Judging”. English 1921 The International Gundog League was formed in 1900 and today has 85 Societies/Clubs that are affiliated. Each year stakes are held in order to qualify for the prestigious annual Retriever Trials Championships.

Watercolour study on ‘Aquarelle Tablets or Water-Colour Sketching Boards’ of Mr Charles E A Alingtons Labrador Retriever Start by Reuben Ward Binks (1880 - 1950). Titled bottom right Start and signed and dated bottom left right R Ward Binks 1921. Charles Alington was one of the founding members of the Labrador Retriever Club in 1916. Then in the same book a similar composition of Dual Ch Banchory Bolo by Binks is illustrated.
