The reverse bears ink label “Coaching Scene A Alken Sen. Very rare old painting. Horses - "doing Collar work" up the hill”. Monogrammed and dated on the milestone “1815”. English, 1815.

A 19th century oil on canvas of a pair of harnessed Hackney Carriage horses and terrier within a stable yard Albert Clark (English, 1843 – 1892). The horse wearing bridle, collar,saddle, bellyband all highly decorated with gilt fittings. Signed, in red, bottom left. English, circa 1860. Albert Clark was regularly commissioned to produce paintings of race horses, shire horse and such carriage horses. As a London equestrian and local to the Islington Agricultural Hall, Albert Clark also had the accolade of producing portraits for the Islington Horse Show prize winners.

Signed with discreet monogram on a passing rock "CH". "R. and A. Ackermann” label to the reverse. Cooper Henderson had a long association with Ackermann. English, circa 1850.

Signed with discreet monogram to one of the packages on the roof "CH". Complete in original Hay & Lyall gilt frame. The reverse bears the remnants of the framer’s label “Hay & Lyall, Decorators, Carvers, Gilders & Printsellers to the Queen, 73 Union Street Aberdeen, established 1811”. Hay received his Royal Appointment as Carver & Gilder to Queen Victoria at Aberdeen in 1846. English, circa 1850.

A rare English ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ cameo four-in-hand coaching / carriage gold set brooch. ‘Crystallo-Ceramie’ / ‘sulphide’ jewellery was patented in 1831 by the glassmaker Apsley Pellatt. Such jewellery was very fashionable in the 1830’s and 1840’s. English circa 1840.

A silver gilt cigar case with enamel coaching / carriage scene of four-in-hand with passenger aboard outside a mansion besides a park, by George Antony Heath. The silver gilt interior assayed London 1897, with maker’s mark “GH” being that of George Antony Heath then of George Heath & Co. In 1887 George Heath is recorded as making a silver snuff box in enamel depicting a coaching scene for Tiffany & Co. Of Union Square, New York. As well as New York clientele, Heath’s silver and enamel work was retailed by such high end London establishments as Carrington & Co., of 130 Regent Street, Walter Thornhill & Co., of 144 New Bond Street, and Henry Lewis & Co., of 172 New Bond Street. English, 1897.

A very finely worked and well detailed 19th century gold, platinum and 38 old cut matching diamond brooch in the form of a Royal Mail four-in-hand coaching / carriage brooch. The carriage with four wheels, two movable and wearing platinum tyres. The swingle tree acting as a safety clasp. The carriage door is adorned with a heraldic swan. English circa 1890.
