The famous dog owned by Hindley Taylor one of the most famous breeders of the period, and this painting is illustrated in the book on Pekingnese written by Hindley Taylor. Champion San San of Kyratown was later owned by Mrs Ashton-Cross a famous Pekingese fancier of the day. Titled bottom right "Ch. The Eggleston's, father JT and son Arthur breed some of the greatest pointers of the day. Many of today's dogs contain their bloodlines.

A watercolour and gouache on buff paper of the English Pointer, Champion Flagon of Ardagh standing in moorland by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880-1950).Champion Flagon of Ardagh (sire, His Majesty by dam, Mignonette) was the 1932 Crufts winning Pointer dog and famously sired Maesydd Megan. Flagon of Ardagh was from the famous kennels of Mr H E Witwell, Haughton-le-Skerne, Co. Durham whose other winning dogs included "Ch. Fleet of Ardagh" and "Int. Ch. Felicity of Ardagh". Mr & Mrs H.E.Whitwell's 'Ardagh' Kennels were also known for their Irish Setters & English Setters. English, 1932. Titled bottom left "Flagon of Ardagh" and signed and dated bottom right "R Ward Binks 1927".

Middleton, frame maker, gilder, and mount cutter, 231 King's Road, Chelsea. Charles Alington was one of the founding members of the Labrador Retriever Club in 1916. In The Popular Labrador Retriever Countess Lorna Howe wrote of Mr Alington as probably one of the greatest handlers and trainers of all time. In 1929 Alington wrote the classic reference to the difficult task of judging retriever and spaniel field trials Field Trials and Judging. English, 1921.

Lettered top centre: “Published 1934 Arthur Greatorex Ltd, 14 Grafton Street, London, W1” In the 1920s and 1930s, regardless of the field and show bench, it was the exclusive place of Countess Howe's Banchory Kennels. One such dog was Dual Ch. Bramshaw Bob, whose sire was Ch. Ingleston Ben and dam Bramshaw Brimble. Bramshaw Bob was very successful wining 27 CC and was first at Crufts in both 1932 and 1933. The reverse bears “International Gundog League At The Working Trials Held by The Retriever Society near Didlington Hall, Breckland on the 7th & 8th December 1921 1st prize in the Champion Stakes was awarded to Mr C Alington’s “Flashy”. Then signed by the three judges Mr “P(eter) Clutterbuck”, Mr “B J Warwick” and Sir “G(eorge) Thursby“ and secretary “George Louth”. Together with framer’s label “J. Middleton, frame maker, gilder, and mount cutter, 231 King’s Road, Chelsea”. Allington not only won this prestigious event The Champion Stake in 1921 with “Flashy”, but he won again in 1922 with “Dazzle”. Charles Alington was one of the founding members of the Labrador Retriever Club in 1916. Each year stakes are held in order to qualify for the prestigious annual Retriever Trials Championships.
