A mid 19th century silver tankard / christening mug depicting the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel 'Dash' inspired from Sir Edwin Landseer 1838 painting titled "Hector, Nero and Dash with the parrot, Lory", commissioned by Queen Victoria which today can be seen in the Royal Collection. It is assayed 1862, and bears the mark of James Charles Edington, a silversmith working from Berwick Street, in Soho, London. English, 1862. James Charles Edington is recorded in 1849 as making a small mug in similar high relief of a portrait of Albert Edward Prince of Wales after another royal painter Xavier Winterhalter. Then there is an earlier portrait mug recorded given to Prince Albert in 1846.
