A stunning large reverse intaglio coaching crystal brooch of a head study of a Cocker Spaniel. Mother of pearl backed and fascinatingly set in a 14 carat gold frame depicting the dog’s collar. The crystal was most likely carved by Ernest.M. Pradier (English 1881-1967), but American set. American, circa 1930. A mid 20th century 9 carat gold reverse intaglio square mother of pearl backed crystal of a Cocker Spaniel pendant by Ernest.M. Pradier (English 1881-1967). Privately commissioned from Pradier as the ‘crystal’ 15th wedding anniversary present from Reginald Arthur Nelsey to his wife Flora Lilian Nelsey (nee Seymour) in 1948. The Pradier family originated in Belgium and were perhaps the most skilled exponents of this art supplying fashionable jewellery across the world.
