Attributed to Jean Massier (French (1877-1937). Though Jean Massier came from the renowned Massier dynasty of ceramicists who included Clément Massier (1844-1917), Delphin (1836-1907) and Jérôme Massier (1850-1916). They were established in Vallauris, a French city famous for its production of ceramics and pottery. The Massiers exhibited frequently and played a crucial role in the transition from traditional pottery to artistic ceramics, introducing stylistic and technical innovations.
Marked to the base with model number “4044”. French, circa 1900.
