English
Late 19th early 20th century
Monica Gray is recorded as a Landscape painter though she clearly specialised in dog portraitures painting for some of the leading kennels of the day.
She exhibited 6 works at the Society of Women Artists, as with many of her contemporaries.
She also exhibited 6 works at the Royal Academy and 7 at Walker Gallery Liverpool from 1903 to 1919.
She seems to have painted many of the breeds some of the great champions in their time. They are always painted on board, and as historical records today, they were perhaps prepared for a projected book. Many were subsequently illustrated in contemporary books and the publication Dog News.
