Micromosaic / Micro-Mosaic / Micro Mosaic ivory box of "Tawney" the 6th Duke of Devonshire's Gordon Setter after Johann Wenzel Peter (Czechoslovakia 1745 - Rome 1829) An ivory box set with an Italian micromosaic of "Tawney" a recumbent Gordon Setter attributable to the studio of Antonio Aguatti (d1846), Luigi Cavaliere Moglia (1813ca - 1878) or Giacomo Raffaelli (1753 - 1836). “Tawney†painted by Johann Wenzel Peter (Czechoslovakia 1745 - Rome 1829)was a Gordon Setter owned William George Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire KG, PC (1790 – 1858), who visited Italy in 1819. Italian, circa 1820. Although the painting returned to England, with the Duke, Peter kept his studies and the sketches used by the mosaicists.
