Signed bottom right "J Hartnung". The image was famously published in print form.
Interestingly the French animal painter Jules Gustave Leroy (1856-1921), painted a version of the picture with the title "The Christmas Present". Austrian, circa 1890.
Another French published title was “TOUTE UNE NICHEE”.
