The Pekingese 'Shadza' and 'Che-ka' by Miss Dorothy S Hallet (English, fl 1913-1934).

Pastel of a head study of the Pekingese 'Shadza' and 'Che-ka' by Miss Dorothy S Hallet (English, fl 1913-1934). The Pekingese were owned by Mrs Fletcher of Langrish House, Hampshire. Signed, bottom left 'Dorothy S Hallet' and titled and dated bottom right 'Shadza & Che-ka 1939'. Interestingly and no doubt in recognition Shadza was the name given Empress Tzu Hsi favourite dog painted by Miss Carl, after the Boxer revolution. English,circa 1939.
