19th King Charles Cavalier Spaniel needlepoint / needlework / textile walnut pole screen


A 19th century walnut pole screen set with a needlepoint of a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The needlepoint inspired by the image of Dash from the 1838 painting by Sir Edwin Landseer titled "Hector, Nero and Dash with the parrot, Lory", commissioned by Queen Victoria which today can be seen in the Royal Collection. Mounted in an ornately scroll surround, raised on a pole with carved finial with profusely-carved downswept supports terminating in scroll feet.
