Pencil and charcoal drawing known as “The Sentinel” or "The Little Dog "Dash" lying at the Big Dog "Lion" " by Thomas Landseer ARA (1795-1880), after his brother’s Sir Edwin Landseer RA (1802-1873) painting for the Duke of Beaufort in 1840.

An engraving of a large Saint Bernard, (Lion), lying on stone steps. A black and tan King Charles spaniel (Dash), barks at Lion whilst a Blenheim Cavalier looks on. Dogs of the Duke of Beaufort.

Thomas Landseer ARA engraving was published by June 18, 1844 by Henry Graves & Co in London and by Goupil & Vibert in Paris.
