Mezzotint of "Pointers" by William Ward ARA (English, 1762-1826), after John Nost Sartorius (English, 1759-1828)

A mezzotint of two Pointers in a forest setting engraved by William Ward ARA (English, 1762-1826) after the painting by John Nost Sartorius (English, 1759-1828). Titled "POINTERS. London, Published June 16th 1806 by James Linnell No. 2, Streatham Street, Bloomsbury". Lettered bottom left "T N Sartorious" and bottom right "Engraved by W. Ward, Engraver to H.R.H. the Duke of York." The Lennox-Boyd database lists three states not listed by Frankau: (i) proof before letters; (ii) with closed letters and the word 'Proof'; (iii) with the word 'Proof' erased. This is the third state. There is an example in the collection of the British Museum.
