The squatting dogs are those from the artist's 'Chienne de Meute avec ses Petits', which was exhibited at the Salon de Paris in 1859. Mene and Auguste Cain" catalogue of 1902-1912, in the 'Chienne de Meute avec ses Petits' group and another "Groupe chien au repos".
