Lightly gilded decoration to the sconce and panels to the ornate base. Stamped “John Bell Elkington”. Marked beneath the base "PUBḎ BY ELKINGTON & CO” with model number “862”.
John Bell trained and exhibited at the Royal Academy and received several commissions from Queen Victoria. This King Charles Cavalier is no doubt modelled on the Queens favourite and famed Spaniel ‘Dash’.
