Mid 19th snow scene of the London to Leeds Royal Mail carriage / coaching / six-in- hand oil by Henry Thomas Alken Snr. (English, 1785 – 1851) A mid 19th century oil on panel of a London to Leeds Royal Mail coach . carriage/ six-in- hand driving through deep snow on approach to a village by Henry Thomas Alken Snr. (English, 1785 – 1851). The coach wearing the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door. The reverse bears stencilled Christie’s number N 843 to the reverse. English, circa 1830.
