Silver gilt cigar case with enamel coaching / carriage scene

A silver gilt cigar case with enamel coaching / carriage scene of four-in-hand with passenger aboard outside a mansion besides a park, by George Antony Heath. The silver gilt interior assayed London 1897, with maker’s mark “GH” being that of George Antony Heath then of George Heath & Co. In 1887 George Heath is recorded as making a silver snuff box in enamel depicting a coaching scene for Tiffany & Co. Of Union Square, New York. As well as New York clientele, Heath’s silver and enamel work was retailed by such high end London establishments as Carrington & Co., of 130 Regent Street, Walter Thornhill & Co., of 144 New Bond Street, and Henry Lewis & Co., of 172 New Bond Street.
