A 19th century cast iron and brass boar fireplace fender
A 19th century polished cast iron, adjustable fireplace fender. Each end is mounted with a seated boar. The boars are modelled on “Il Porcellino”, the famous boar in the bronze fountain in Florence. The frieze displays a pierced and scrolled cast decoration, a central motif of oak leaves and a number of vines and grapes applied in brass. French, circa 1880.
