A pair of snow scene carriage / coaching / four-in- hand oils by Henry Thomas Alken Snr. (English, 1785 – 1851)

A pair of oil of Royal Mail coaches in deep snow landscapes by Henry Thomas Alken Snr. (English, 1785 – 1851). The coaches fully laden, wear the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the name of the town at the end of the coach’s route.


Provenance:

- Harrods label to the reverse.

- Christie's Manson & Woods, 8 King St, St. James, 1953.
