An oil on canvas of a runaway dapple Hackney Carriage horse, wearing its resplendent carriage livery intent on joining the hunt by James Clark (English, c.1858-1909). This was a theme visited on several occasions by the artist. Signed bottom left. The reverse bears Christies / Sotheby’s stencil catalogue reference. English circa 1880.
