A very fine mid-19th century, Victorian silver deer / stag salts by John Samuel Hunt, (English, 1785-1865) A very fine set of silver stag salts by John Samuel Hunt (English, 1785-1865). The beautifully modelled stag is recumbent in a rocky outcrop between two gilt lined giant clam shells. Hunt was the renowned silversmith and nephew of the equally reputed silversmith Paul Storr. Assayed London, 1847, with Queen Victoria’ head certifying payment of duty, and bearing makers mark “JSHâ€.
