Scottish Terrier dry-point etching "The Black Watch", by Marguerite Kirmse (English, 1885 -1954)

A dry-point etching, "The Black Watch", of four Scottish Terriers standing guard on the front door steps by Marguerite Kirmse (English, 1885 -1954). Published November 1922. In pencil, titled bottom left "The Black Watch” and signed bottom right "Marguerite Kirmse". Interestingly not titled in the margin “The Black Watch” as was the artist’s usual practice, suggesting an artist’s proof. Torn label to the reverse bears “190 E. Colorado St, Pasadena” American, 1922.
