“Les Levriers”, lithograph of Italian Greyhounds / Whippets after Xavier de Poret (French, 1894 - 1975)
An artist’s proof limited edition lithograph of just 240, after Xavier de Poret (French, 1894 - 1975). Signed in pencil bottom right “Xavier d’Poret”.
The design “Les Levriers” was commissioned by Hermes, in 1957 for silk scarves in various colour ways. It is said that when Mrs Peggy Stancomb of Tinribs Whippets was living in Paris she bought most of the scarves as presents! French, circa 1960.
Poret designed some 30 scarves for Hermes.
