Gold, miniature enamel on gold stick pin of “Grip” the Skye Terrier, by William Bishop Ford (English, 1832-1922). Signed to the reverse 'W B Ford'. Popularised by James Bateman’s (English, 1815-1849) painting and subsequent engraving published by Lloyd Brothers & Co., in 1848. English, circa 1865.


A similar enamel by William Bishop Ford (1832-1922) was previously in the Commendatore Melville A Jamieson loaned to the Victoria & Albert Museum around 1929.
