A mid 20th century 9 carat gold reverse intaglio square mother of pearl backed crystal of a Cocker Spaniel pendant by Ernest.M. Pradier (English 1881-1967). Privately commissioned from Pradier as the ‘crystal’ 15th wedding anniversary present from Reginald Arthur Nelsey to his wife Flora Lilian Nelsey (nee Seymour) in 1948. The Pradier family originated in Belgium and were perhaps the most skilled exponents of this art supplying fashionable jewellery across the world. Reverse intaglio crystals are commonly and erroneously often called Essex Crystals. English, 1948.

Standing Cocker Spaniel carved in onyx. With platinum mille-grain set rose cut diamond collar. The eyes worked in polished cabochon onyx. Austrian, late 1920s. Possibly retailed by Koch, Vienna's most famous jeweller and jeweller to the Hapsburgs.

A 1950’s head study of a Cocker Spaniel bronze from the foundry of Claude Valsuani. It bears the Valsuani Foundary "Cire Valsuani Perdue" seal. The “Claude Valsuani” seal was synonymous with castings of excellent quality and remarkable patinas. It is further inscribed “FL 59”, presumed the sculptors initials and the date of the sculpture. We have not been able to determine the artist. All our art books are in London and we are isolating in the Devon countryside.

Marked with London hallmark, maker's mark 'BRLd', Ben Rosenfeld (Jewels) Ltd. and assayed 18 carat and 1961 Ben Rosenfeld (Jewels) Ltd. traded from around 1959 until their voluntary liquidation in 1987. His work can be seen in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum
