Engraving of "Beauty's Bath" by Samuel Cousins RA (1801-1887), after Sir Edwin Landseer RA(1802-1873)

Engraving was published 1847 by Henry Graves, by the engraver Samuel Cousins RA (1801-1887), after the oil was titled "Beauty's Bath" painted in 1839 by Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873) , for Sir Robert Peel, twice British Prime Minister. This is the artist's proof before letters signed in pencil 'E Landseer' and 'Samuel Cousins' further initialled 'EL' with another indecipherable penciled initial. The painting is of Sir Robert Peels's daughter "Miss Elise (Elizabeth) Peel" cuddling her King Charles Cavalier "Fido". (On her marriage she became The Hon. Mrs Francis Stonor).
