A watercolour and gouache of the English Pointer, Champion Flagon of Ardagh by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880-1950) A watercolour and gouache on buff paper of the English Pointer, Champion Flagon of Ardagh standing in moorland by Reuben Ward Binks (English, 1880-1950).Champion Flagon of Ardagh (sire, His Majesty by dam, Mignonette) was the 1932 Crufts winning Pointer dog and famously sired Maesydd Megan. Flagon of Ardagh was from the famous kennels of Mr H E Witwell, Haughton-le-Skerne, Co. Durham whose other winning dogs included "Ch. Fleet of Ardagh" and "Int. Ch. Felicity of Ardagh". Mr & Mrs H.E.Whitwell's 'Ardagh' Kennels were also known for their Irish Setters & English Setters. English, 1932. Titled bottom left "Flagon of Ardagh" and signed and dated bottom right "R Ward Binks 1927".
