A rare preparatory drawing on ivorine by Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin RBA (English, 1870-1935), of “Boss-eyed Peter” his beloved West Highland Terrier published 1934 by Eyre & Spottiswoode in Aldin’s “Just Among Friends”. Signed and dedicated bottom right “from Cecil Aldin to Adele Astaire”. The reverse bears interesting pencil note “71/3 wide deep etch note artists instruction”. Lady Charles Cavendish Adele Astaire (American, 1896-1981) was Fred Astaire’s famous elder sister, and his partner in a 27-year career in vaudeville and theatre, beginning when he was five and she was eight. English, 1934.
