An oil on canvas board of the Dachshunds "Tina" and "Pindi Poo" by Kathleen Irene (Kay) Nixon Nixon, SWA (1895-1988). Signed bottom left "K Nixon". These were the artists own dogs painted upon her return from India when she wrote and illustrated a number of whimsical stories for children based on her own pets. "Pindi Poo" was published by Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd in 1957. The Times October 1988 wrote these stories show "her draughtmanship and her use of watercolour were clear and unpretentious, preserving into the post-war decades a style of illustration that was closely related to that of such Victorian artists as Cecil Aldin and Harry Rountree".

This was perhaps inspired after the Austrian animal painter Carl Reichert’s (1836-1918), baskets of puppies and kittens. Austrian circa 1900. These beautifully made bronze bell pushes were used by the wealthy and aristocratic Viennese households to call their staff.
