Aquatint etching of Labrador Retriever Dual “Ch. Bramshaw Bob†retrieving a Mallard by Reuben Ward Binks (1880 - 1950) Aquatint etching of the Labrador Retriever Dual “Ch. Bramshaw Bob†retrieving a Mallard by Reuben Ward Binks (1880 - 1950). Titled in pencil bottom left “English Setter†and signed in pencil bottom right "Ward Binks pinxt sculpt". It is unclear why Binks signed this “pinxt sculptâ€, but it makes this copy a rare hand touched artist proof.
In the 1920s and 1930s, regardless of the field and show bench, it was the exclusive place of Countess Howe's Banchory Kennels. One such dog was Dual Ch. Bramshaw Bob, whose sire was Ch. Ingleston Ben and dam Bramshaw Brimble. Bramshaw Bob was very successful wining 27 CC and was first at Crufts in both 1932 and 1933.
Ward Binks aquatint etchings were published Arthur A Greatorex, 14 Grafton St., Bond St., London. English, circa 1935.
A image of Dual Ch Bramshaw Bob together with Ch Banchory Trueman and Ch Igleston Ben by Reuben Ward Binks is illustrated in “The Popular Labrador Retriever†by Countess Lorna Howe. Then in the same book a similar composition of Dual Ch Banchory Bolo by Binks is illustrated.
