The heads surround by oak leaves and acorns, the vase similarly decorated with oak leaves and acorns and the interior of the vase is of sky blue colour typical of the production of the Sarreguemines factory at this time.
It bears the Sarreguemines Majolica mark and “909†hollow under cover. In “Guide de l'amateur des faïences de Sarreguemines†by Emile Decker and Christian Thevenin, number 909 is the ‘Versailles Vase’

Two coachmen encourage the horses while another man tries to unblock the wheel, and another on one of the horses rides off in the field behind; trees behind for help. The coach fully laden, wears the correct Royal Mail livery, black with red door and lower panels, Post Office red wheels, and The Royal Coat of Arms on the door with the name of the town at the end of the coach’s route.Signed and dated 1827.
