53 ) "Fire worshippers" by Herbert Thomas Dicksee (1862-1942)
Known as "Fire worshippers", watercolour of a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and an Irish Wolfhound by Herbert Thomas Dicksee R.E (1862-1942). The finished study for his 1899 engraving of the same name "Fire Worshippers" exhibited at the Royal Academy. It was first published, 1899, by printsellers C E Clifford & Co., of 200 Piccadilly, later of 21 Haymarket. Frost and Reed further published the work in 1906. There is an example of the etching in the National Trust property, Tyntesfield, North Somerset.

65 ) A portrait of a young boy standing in a parkland setting with his favorite dog, a Phalene.
He engages with the painter, pleased to be pictured with his dog. There is a slight naive treatment to the blushed cheek and blue and hand, whilst the naturalistic treatment of the long and flowing white silk dress detailed in lace and the draped pink silk sash tied in a bow, suggest a boy from the upper reaches of the aristocracy. As of course does his parti-coloured Phalene, a breed so favoured in the portraits by the Old Masters and linked with many royal names throughout history. The artist cleverly carries the eye towards and along the elegant curving dress to the pink silk and fur brimmed hat casually discarded by his feet.
