Head study of Griffon Bruxellois by Leon Danchin (French, 1887-1938). Limited to 300 impressions of a Griffon Bruxellois and published by Devambez et Associ's of 43 boulevard Malesherbes, Paris. Danchin entrusted Edouard Devambez and his partner Georges Weil to publish his work from 1925 to 1932, with the lithographs usually limited from 300 to 400 editions. Signed in pencil by "Leon Danchin" (1887-1938). French. Once the required number of prints was reached, the copper plate was scratched and discarded.

Oil on canvas of a seated Bruxellois Griffon by a fan and bouquet of roses by Gaston Noury (French, 1866-1936). The painting was gifted to Gaston Noury’s friend Mme ‘Zizi’ Landolff. Noury designed costumes for the Moulin Rouge and Ambassadeurs in the Montmartre district, some of which can be seen in the "Les Collections." Of the Musée Christian Dior. Mme ‘Zizi’ Landolff was also a famous French theatrical costume designer. This gift by the artist to Mme Landolff, is most likely a portrait of her Bruxellois Griffon. Inscribed and signed top right “à ZIZI LANDOLFF, son ami Gaston Noury”. French, circa 1890

A beautiful large reverse intaglio coaching crystal brooch of a head study of a Griffon Bruxellois. The pampered pet wears a blue silk bow, and it’s collar is adorned with three gold bells. Mother of pearl backed and set in an 18 carat gold ‘Gordion Knot’ style frame. The crystal was most likely carved by a member of the Pradier family, prominent carvers in Belgium at that time. Belgium, circa 1890.

Oil on canvas of a Griffon Bruxellois by D Gilpin A head study of a Rough Red Griffon Bruxellois signed 'D Gilpin' and dated '1900' The reverse bears part label 'Lang & Gilders' most likely that of Lang & Co, Carvers and Gilders to Her Late Majesty the Queen Dowager. The Griffon Bruxellois Club was established in 1897 just a year after the breed was first exhibited at Crufts Dog Show 1896, making this one of the earliest representations of the breed in England. 'D Gilpin' is possibly Miss L D Gilpin-Brown of Elmley Lodge, Leamington active at this time.

Danchin entrusted Edouard Devambez and his partner Georges Weil to publish his work from 1925 to 1932, with the lithographs usually limited from 300 to 400 editions. Once the required number of prints was reached, the copper plate was scratched and discarded. The etching also bears 1920’s label to the reverse for “J Gautier 19 Rue de Sèvres Paris”. A Parisian firm of guilders and framers established in the 19th century. (Gautier was also a director of the ‘Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers’). Signed in pencil by "Leon Danchin" (1887-1938). French, circa 1925.
