Painted during the artist's visit to Europe sometime between 1887 - 1895 when he travelled extensively in Europe, studying art, particularly in Paris for four years, then Brussells, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Liege, and working in Rouen, Biarritz, and Pau.
This was most likely painted in the European Lowlands
