T Townsend published in 1930, by the Derrydale Press. Here Kirmse writes "How we used to sit hour after hour watching the lazy gulls and listening to the rolling waves. One of these was my favourite of all dogs; she died this year I made this etching."

This was famously illustrated to the cover of Terhune’s 1920 book “Bruce” published Grosset & Dunlap, New York. Terhune was popular for his novels relating the adventures of his beloved collies and as a breeder of collies at his Sunnybank Kennels. The books were chiefly illustrated by Marguerite Kirmse.
